Eyelid Surgery – Blepharoplasty

The eyes are the most conspicuous of all facial features. Beautiful eyes are always noticed and are frequently complimented by others. Unfortunately, the eyes are usually one of the first facial features to reveal the signs of aging. The good news is that these signs can be reversed.

Blepharoplasty procedures are designed to improve the appearance of the eyelids. The upper lids may have excess skin folds or display a heaviness that obscures the true lids. The lower lids may present with undue puffiness, sagging skin and wrinkles. Often, people complain that their eyes give them an aging or a tired look.

Methods are available to improve the contour of the eyelids. Techniques vary with each surgeon depending on experience, artistry and philosophy. Nevertheless, patient concerns are considered and the undesirable findings are addressed with corrective procedures tailored to each individual. The common goal is to create a more youthful appearance of the eyes resulting in a fresher, a more alert and a rested image. Men and women are equally suitable candidates for blepharoplasty. Women are delighted to be able to use make-up and apply eyeshadow to lids that are visible once again. Blepharoplasty can be, and often is, performed in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures.

In common with other cosmetic and rejuvenation procedures, the results of blepharoplasty should not be surgically conspicuous. The eyelid contours should be enhanced naturally, contributing to an overall pleasant and a more youthful face.
